Data Governance and Policy Specialist 

Peregrine Advisors Benefit Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Data Governance and Policy Specialist. This position involves working closely with an Attorney-Advisor responsible for enterprise-wide  requirements analysis and implementation planning for the Office of the Chief Data Officer (OCDO) of a  major federal agency. The ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of data governance  principles and methodologies, combined with experience in data management and financial regulations.  As the Data Governance and Policy Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting the development and  implementation of strategic initiatives related to data governance and policy. This includes managing  transitions and updates to policies with excellent analytical and synthesis skills, ensuring effective and  efficient implementation.

Responsibilities 

  • Provide subject matter expertise on data governance and policy development to the OCDO

  • Work with the Attorney-Advisor to analyze enterprise-wide data requirements and design  strategies to ensure that data is managed effectively across the organization 

  • Develop and implement data governance policies and procedures that comply with applicable laws  and regulations 

  • Monitor changes in laws and regulations related to data use and make recommendations to update  policies and procedures accordingly 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that data policies and procedures are effectively  communicated and implemented across the organization

  • Conduct regular audits of data policies and procedures to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement 

  • Serve as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders regarding data governance and  policy development 

  • Assist in the development of data management standards and guidelines 

Requirements 

  • Commitment to creating exceptional client, organizational, and social value

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred 

  • 5+ years of experience in data policy development and implementation. 

  • Familiarity with applicable data protection laws and regulations (e.g., CUI, FDTA, Federal Data  Strategy) 

  • Experience working with legal teams on data policy development and implementation

  • Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing

  • Mental flexibility to quickly adapt to new tasks and requirements in a highly dynamic environment 

  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities

  • Ability to travel to Washington DC as needed

  • Must be a US citizen and willing and able to apply for and hold a Public Trust position
